As many of us know that MBD is very popular and there are many fakes out there (even appear in the news), many have been asking/inquiring us if our masks are authentic. First of all, we would like to address that all masks we sell are authentic and comes directly from stores (Cosmed) in Taiwan.
To help you differentiate the real mask from the fake mask and new version mask from old version mask we decided to come up with this review.

Level of Easiness to Spot: *
Reliability: *
Looking at the image above, color of the real mask packaging is much richer while the fake mask looks paler. However, looking at other fakes, we realize that some fake mask packaging can be quite well done in terms of colouring. Hence, be careful not to judge the fakes by its cover.

The tear point of the real mask is about 1.1 cm from the top of the packaging while that of the fake mask is longer, at about 1.2cm. Some fake mask has shorter distance, but overall it should be longer than the real mask unless the fake manufacturer improve their manufacture process.

For A-grade fake mask, print can be well done but if you compare with the real mask, you may notice that prints of real mask is thicker. Low-grade fake masks may have blurry prints, for example, the words.
If you didn't notice any difference in the printing of the words, you can look at the key logo of the real mask. You will notice that the key logo print is much thicker than the fake mask.

For A-grade fake mask, seal can be well done but most would have uneven sealed (notice that the seal is slanted). Real mask is sealed straightly.
We've read that some sites say that the seal of the fake mask is not squarish, only lines, but we advised you not to judge fakes using this method as this fake mask we've taken have squarish seal like the real mask, though the squarish seal is not very well done (depth is not there).
Don't freak out if you notice your mask has lesser print in the back of the mask packaging. It could be real if it belongs to the old version. In mid 2010 or later, MBD changes its packaging, into the new version (see next part for new and old version comparison)

Expiry and batch print of real mask is clean and indented while fake mask could be blurry and smudge (notice how unclear the print of the fake mask is). Some sites mentioned that the words are just printed on the packaging but the one we have has some indent to it. So it'll be better if you feel across the print. Real mask will have more depth to it.
We read that some sites say that the print of real masks can be erased using an eraser, we tried but it doesn't come off so be careful if you're using this method to identify since it can be a real one even if the print doesn't come off.

The most obvious way to identify a real mask from a fake mask is to open and see the content. In fact, most sites use this method to show the main difference between a real mask from a fake one.

Immediately, you will notice that new version masks is more colourful as it has more designs. However, some masks like Apple or Cherry Blossom do not change their design.
New version has more text than old version.
Mask sheet of new version is much thinner than old version. It is said that the new mask sheet stays and fits on the skin better than the old version.
