Our hair tonic comes from the same supplier. The hair tonic products we sell are authentic.

This post guides you on the difference between the hair tonic from Japan and that from Taiwan.

Yanagiya Hair Tonic Compare

The box of the hair tonic from Japan and Taiwan are different. The design of the Japan one is dark green and checkered while the Taiwan one is light green.

Note: If you feel over the feather of the Taiwan box, you will notice that it is protruding.

When you purchased the hair tonic, box is not sealed. We sell as it is. The hair tonic doesn't come with a sealed box.

The hair tonic from Taiwan comes with a sticker at the back. This sticker is prove that the product comes from the Taiwan distributor, Amity. Expiry date is printed on the sticker and it is based on the Republic of China calender. 106.02有效 means the product expires on Feb 2017. (if you count backwards, the product is manufactured in Feb 2012 since it can be kept for 5 years.)

The hair tonic from Japan doesn't bear this sticker. Furthermore, it is the practice (Japanese) to not indicate expiry date on the product. Hence, do not expect to find the expiry date anywhere for the hair tonic from Japan. However, rest assure that our products are fresh.

The front and back view of the hair tonic bottle.

Did you spot any difference in the bottles? The bottle from Japan doesn't bear a printed code in the front while that from Taiwan has it. Our guess is Amity added this printed code for more security (to prove authencity).

Batch code (1LB for the Japan bottle or 2BA for the Taiwan bottle) is found at the bottom of the bottle. The batch code is printed on the bottle. You will also notice both bottles bear the mark of Yanagiya.

The caps for both hair tonic are the same. Both bear the mark of Yanagiya.

Upon opening the cap, you will realize that the bottle is not sealed. (There is no seal in the first place.)

We also notice that the scent for the Japan one is stronger than the Taiwan one (unless my nose is playing tricks on me).

Additional info (normal packing method): For buyers who purchase the hair tonic from us, we will wrap a layer of bubble wrap around the bottle and put it back into the box. Hence, sometimes, you may notice that the box looks like it has been opened. This first layer of bubble wrap is the first layer of protection for the glass bottle during mailing.

After we wrapping the bottle with bubble wrap, we either wrapped the box with a thick layer of bubble wrap before placing it into a plastic envelope for shipment.

With this, we end the comparison of the hair tonic from Japan and Taiwan. If you any comments or points you would like to bring up to improve this post, email us at sales@skinphil.com. Thank you.
